The following are precautions you can take to prevent salt crystal Himalayan Salt lamps from
breaking due to leaks.
● Avoid moist areas:
Inevitably, some parts of your home will be more susceptible to dampness than
others. Your salt lamps would be best served away from such areas. Like (Kitchen,
Bathrooms, Laundry Areas, and Open Spaces )
● Turn it on all the time:
Light from the bulb will evaporate the water if you leave it on. It is suggested that
you keep it on for 16 hours every day, but leaving it on all the time is preferable. Before
venturing out, cover the lamp with a plastic bag to keep it dry. If you need to turn your
salt lamp off for an extended period of time, please remove the cable from the lamp and
wrap the light in plastic.
● Use a moisture absorber:
A moisture absorber can be useful in the same space as your salt lamp. In doing
so, you’ll lower the humidity in the room and keep your lamp from condensation. In most
cases, Damprid is an excellent choice.
● Upgrade to a stronger light bulb:
Humidity levels inside the home can shorten the life of light bulbs, so replacing
them is a necessity. Selecting a higher wattage bulb will cause more heat to be generated,
thus evaporating the surplus moisture.
● Upkeep of a High Standard:
A salt lamp that has been leaking should be cleaned as soon as possible to prevent
further damage. A dry cloth can be used to soak up the moisture, and the lamp can be
allowed to dry in a well-ventilated area
